Advantages

Benefits to builders and consumers using SIPs from EH Systems:

Economic Benefits

When adhering to the process recommended by EH Systems, SIP building costs can be the same as wood frame, or "stick", construction while providing consumers with greater ongoing savings. A builder using EH System SIPs should experience savings in labor costs and the homeowner or end user may qualify for financial incentives such as an energy tax credit and an Energy Star rebate.

Using SIP construction and our installation process, a builder can frame a home in less time than it takes to frame a stick-built home or other similar structures. Precise fabricating of each SIP is completed in our manufacturing plant, which reduces site labor and site waste. Our panels are manufactured with an electrical chase at standard plug and switch height increasing the speed to complete electrical wiring. SIP assembly is faster, trained framing crews are more productive, and the project is finished sooner.

An EH Systems builder can save money during construction and is able to pass on decreased finished cost to the end user as well as a reduction in energy bills and the opportunity to qualify for special insurance and mortgage programs.

Structural Benefits

Our SIPs meet code requirements and are listed with the National Evaluation Service, Inc. (NES) or the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) and Rescheck.  Our product is code listed with NTA  (click here for report) .

In addition to being certified, a home built using EH Systems SIPs rivals the aesthetic beauty of any stick-built home and can feature high ceilings, massive windows, expansive spaces, arches and other architectural points of interest. Builders who use our system do not need to compromise on design.

EH Systems constructs SIPs that can be used with a variety of spline options. EH Systems manufactures several spline (connectors between SIPs) choices to allow our customers the maximum flexibility in design and cost. A more durable spline system makes our products stronger than other SIP manufacturers. Our panels provide a thermal barrier similar to an ice chest. The walls are sealed at the joints, floor, and roof with special sealants that make the home essentially airtight and protected against dust, bugs, pollen, molds, and other allergens.

The roof system is typically made of 8.25" SIPs, which are so structurally sound they do not require rafters or trusses in most roof designs making the structure three to six times stronger than conventional stick-built homes. EH Systems offers several roof thicknesses to allow for design and cost flexibility.

SIP homes have survived Hurricanes Andrew and Katrina, the North Ridge earthquakes and destructive and straight line winds that exceeded 155 mph. Due to their air-tight construction, they burn slower during fires than standard stick-built homes with no additional off-gassing.

Environmental Benefits

Homeowners living in a SIP built home may save as much as 50 percent on energy bills compared to conventional stick-built homeowners with similar lifestyles. The SIP framing creates a tighter and more energy efficient building envelope than conventional framing so the size of heating and cooling equipment is dramatically reduced.

This energy savings results in less fossil fuel consumption and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Because our homes and other buildings are air-tight, we reduce air infiltration, which increases the cleanliness of the air. Our builders also benefit from significantly less job-site waste, better utilization of material resources, and more environmentally friendly building practices.
