EH Systems' primary SIPs are made up of foam, adhesive, and oriented strand board (OSB). The components used in the manufacture of our structural rated SIP panels are not used on our panels until they are tested by an independent third party test facility and approved for our use. This list of approved suppliers becomes our Approved Material Source list and we are audited each quarter for compliance to that list. Also during the audit each quarter, product samples are selected from our production and shipped to the third party independent test facility to insure that our product meets or exceeds the requirements of our product listing.
OSB
Our OSB (Oriented Strand Board) used in our structural rated panels is 7/16’ thick and conforms to APA PRN-610 and DOC PS 2-04, Exposure 1, Rated Sheathing with a span index of 24/16.
We buy our OSB in 4’x8’,x10’,12’,14’,16, & 24’ and in 8’x24’ sheet sizes. We manufacture SIP panels in those sizes and custom fabricated lengths.
Foam
Our foam used in our structural rated panels is 1.0 pound per cubic foot nominal density expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam. The foam core has a flame spread rating not exceeding 75 and a smoke-developed rating not exceeding 450 when tested in accordance with ASTM E84. Our foam is also UL (Underwriters Laboratory) listed.
Our EPS foam cores on our standard thickness SIP panels are the approximate dimension of 2”x4”, 2”x6”, 2”x8”, 2”x10”, and 2”x12” dimensional lumber. We can also do custom thicknesses upon request. Each 4’ wide section of foam comes with two horizontal electrical chases at outlet and switch heights and one vertical chase allowing for ease of electrical wiring installation. Custom thicknesses and custom wire chase locations are available upon request. Contact the factory.
We can also provide custom foam densities (less and more dense than our structural rated panels) and even recycled content (up to 30%) for those unique applications that require something different. Changes in foam density may impact the structural rating of the panel.
Adhesive
Our adhesive is a Type II, Class 2, laminating adhesive as specified in the approved quality control documentation.
See ALTERNATVE SKINS under Product Services for skin options to meet a variety of design and environmental applications.
